History of the Longboard:
This is it, man, the longboard. There was a time, long, long ago, when the longer the surfboard you rode, the higher your status. If you caught a wave on a 26 foot surfboard, you were the king, literally. It seems like natives and indiginous people have been surfing since they found a body of water. Then it took about another 2,000 years until Tom Blake created the "Cigar Board" by simply taking a 15 foot slab of redwood and tried to make it lighter by drilling holes in the base and making a wood sandwich.
Later, fins were invented, fiberglass was invented. Then Dick Dale invented Surf Music. Then there was the Beach Boys. Then longboards had two fins, then three but the shape hasn't really changed. The materials continue to get more advanced and maybe a little taper has made the longboard more hydrodynamic but it is what it is. It's a classic.
