Kona Cruiser PU Series Surfboard
Attention all novices and those just embarking on their surfing lifestyles and careers: this is the board you've been looking for. You see, sometimes that first board - the one that will build up your confidence and get you to fall in love with surfing - can be elusive. Well, not really, because it is right here. The Cruiser is the board that will get you up, riding, loving life and high-fiving with gusto the surf lifestyle for the rest of your life.
The Cruiser is the ultimate classic longboard. This board will catch a lot of waves. It is easy to paddle and stable in small to medium surf. With a round nose and a square tail, it looks back with respect to a time in the sixties when most boards had this basic template, and they all rode exceptionally well.
Outline:A traditional longboard outline with a turned-up rail line throughout allows the rider to stand almost anywhere and feel comfortable and engaged. The wider. round nose makes it an easy platform to stand far forward. The round nose. combined with the 50/50 pinched rails throughout. added deck volume and a distinctive square tail design. helping maximize volume and catch waves. making paddling a breeze.
Rocker:The low rocker gets into waves due to the lateral paddle speed attainable. The Cruiser also has a slight spoon in the nose to help with those wanting to nose ride. There is a little extra tail rocker for speed to compensate somewhat for the possible loss of speed due to utilising the spoon design. It's good for noserides. but it crops momentum slightly.
Bottom Contours:The spoon provides some front lift. ideal for noseriding. This design. paired with a rolled belly. provides stability and smooth rail-to-rail transitions when generating speed. There is also a pronounced vee through the tail for back foot control.
Tail:When Australian surfer Simon Anderson introduced the square tail thruster in 1980. he didn't invent something new by squaring off the tail and putting a third fin in. He was adapting to what he knew from the square-tailed longboards from the previous era. The square tail design is tried and tested on many boards in varying conditions. and it's the perfect tail design for the Cruiser. as it will react quickly to short. tight turns.
